What Could Bezos Buy?
Project Prometheus acquisition target speculation for manufacturing transformation with World Models
Back on February 27th, the Financial Times broke the news on Jeff Bezos’ Project Prometheus /FT/ and its associated $30 $100 billion /WSJ/ "manufacturing transformation vehicle." It appears Jeff Bezos and Vikram Bajaj are targeting a specific profile of business that blends traditional heavy industry with high-complexity engineering.
Exponential Industry first started tracking the Project in the November 23rd digest.
The Project strategy seems to not just to invest in AI, but to buy legacy companies that are currently being devalued or disrupted by AI, then use proprietary World Model /NVIDIA/ technology to radically improve their margins and speed.
Last week, following the Wall Street Journal update, the gentleman at TBPN proposed five options: Lear, BorgWarner, Hexcel, Goodyear, and Rockwell Automation /TBPN/ with a caveat:
This is all mostly a wild guess at this point, the fact that Bezos could potentially link to this Project Prometheus means there’s a chance this whole project will be much more aligned to the traditional software singularity path, and there’s always a chance we get an Elon-style megacorp with Blue Origin involved at some point. Either way, it’s a big move from an experienced operator with lots of opportunity ahead. Will be fun to follow along.
Now that speculation is abound, I figured its time to outline the 'target profile' and raise several companies to share with you and see how well they fit the criteria.
